Generally, no. Most of the time the primary reason for acne is the fluctuation of hormones. Hormonal changes stimulate the oil glands and it produces more sebum. Sebum can block the pores. In blocked pores, bacteria grow and causing them to become inflamed and break out.
Why does acne effect most often in teenagers?
The main culprit is fluctuation hormones which cause acne to trigger. When teenagers hit puberty their hormones start surging and often, so does acne.
